Kitty, Liza, you believe whatever you like emoticon

Whats a debate without two sides? Just a shouting match. emoticon

Myself and chunky will continue to believe in science and quantifiable evidence and we will respect your views to believe whatever you like, just as we hope you'll respect ours to not believe emoticon

What makes you think we don't believe in science? I don't recall ever saying that. I just know science has a limited ability to prove anomalous and metaphysical experiences that are much more advanced. The tools don't exist yet to capture and measure much of it. There is plenty of evidence out there though, but you won't find it browsing through the pages of Scientific American, at least not for a few more years.

Apologies, I was trying to imply that "I" believe in science, not that you and kitty do not. If that came across wrong I completely didn't mean that.

I am a very sceptical man, I think that's maybe why i'm reasonably good at my job in IT because I do dismiss all possibilities until I have examined the problem with a computer myself.

Example: Someone may tell me that "My Office has crashed", when in fact an IRQ conflict on the graphics card has caused the blue screen.
Now if I took the eye witness statement, i'd just reinstall office and be on my way but the problem would still remain because I had not seen all the evidence myself.

Modern science is great, but it hasn't explored or discovered everything, we are not an all knowing race of people. We are still in the dark. The science we know at the moment simply cannot allow for aliens to visit us with interstellar craft and still be alive to tell the tale when they return. Does that mean it doesn't happen, of course not, we just simply do not understand how it could happen. A few hundred years ago we didn't believe we could get in to space but now its fairly routine. We also believed we knew everything about the atom until we discovered more powerful micro-scoping techniques and found more particles.

I could rabbit on about this all day you know emoticon but i'll stop now and just simply say that with the evidence available to us at the moment, I do not believe that aliens are visiting us.

I hope we find proof one way or the other soon. If they do exist, i'll be a very happy bunny but I will need 1st hand proof, not someone knew someone who saw something.

Personally, I think the scientists should hurry up and discover interstellar travel technology, or at least give us robotic house cleaners, personal jetpacks and flying cars like they promised us in the 60's. emoticon

Yeah, I hear you; you're one of these guys:

"I won't believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side."

As I said in another post, for some people, it doesn't exist unless you can either eat the damn thing or hold it in your hand. But even then, how can you "prove" that it's what it looks to be? Somebody could be pulling a fast one on you, right?

I can say I don't believe you are some dude blathering to me from his office computer somewhere in the UK. You could be an hallucination -- an imposter -- nothing more than space dust. emoticon

All I know for sure is, I agree with you in the robotic house cleaners department. I SO loathe vacuuming!

I wrote: "You could be an hallucination"

Strictly speaking, I should have made that "a" hallucination because the word didn't start with a vowel, according to punctuation/grammar geeks. But it later dawned on me that I never pronounce it with a hard H, but rather a "soft" A -- thus the "an" sallied forth.

Interesting, what? emoticon (Hey, this gave you something to read.)
