Kitty, I'm pretty sure I can speak for Charlie and reassure you he thought no such thing.

Not only that - I'll climb further along a Speak-For-Charlie (and other regs) limb - when I say we'd love to hear whatever stories you care to share, in any format you feel comfy.

(And I'm darn glad to hear about Mercury retrogrades now and then because I know enough about Astrology to know I'm a Gemini, ruled by Mercury. And it's always darn handy to have something other to blame than ones own misfiring neurons when things take a bit of a turn for the how-the-heck-did-this-happen?)

I indeedly (?) knew you were not trying to suggest adding a non-flood story to my blog, Kitty. (((kittyhugs)))

As for the blog, tis here:

I also knew what you meant, Kitty and second Frank's comment about interest in whatever you'd like to share.

Charlie, I'm going to save the blog reading for a bit later in the day when I have more focus but I think it's a fine idea... and a great title.

Riveting read, Chunky -- held my interest, 'tis very descriptive. Hey, my first thought would have been (assuming the helicopters were black), "Uh-oh, they're coming to get us!" emoticon

Good grief, you bus-load of weary pilgrims with your livestock must have been scared as hell crossing the Elk Run (Bridge)-- wow!

Okay, now tune up the guitar. Your next assignment will be a little ditty called either "Crossing the Elk Run" or "The Ballad of Cougar Creek" (take your pick) -- wherein you could incorporate the sentence, The moldy muffin waits patiently... emoticon

Good luck with your project. I hope you get lots of contributors. It might take them a while though.

This is very moving . It reminds me a little of books about the Second World War, where families are piled onto buses ( and much worse) with whatever belongings they can pack.
Perspective is such a valuable thing. A peek into someone else's life that is infinitely worse than yours. It's a shocking reminder to appreciate what you have.

I'm so glad it all worked out for you, Charlie.

I'm embarrassed to say I missed this thread until just now.

Chunk, we don't know each other.

I was moved by your account. Truly.

I hope the folks whose homes were wiped out will receive adequate help. For the Canuckian members of this board, will help be sufficient to restore homes and lives?

For instance, where we live earthquake insurance is prohibitively expensive if available at all. So if a quake took out our house we'd be up against it.

Back to Chunky, if you still have the muffin, have it encased in a Lucite cube. Pass it down through your family. A memento. Just a thought.

My hat's off to you and yours.

Excellent idea, Ol' Cur: Milk the muffin! emoticon

On second thought, Chunky, let's center your new ditty around that little guy. All the other incidentals are so....b-o-o-r--r-ing, y'know what I mean? Call it The Saga of the Poor Mouldy* Muffin.

Okay, so start with a few lusty ripples on your geeetar, maybe to the tune of of Mule Train or Ghost Riders in the Sky -- unless you can come up with a finger-snapping beat of your own creation. But maybe it's enough if you get the words right, for starters. For instance:

Pooorrrrrrrrrr mouldy muffin,
A-waitin' to be et.

But all the folks are on a bus,
Naw, they don't give a shet.
emoticon

----

Yeah, it needs some work, but you'll have no problem taking it from there. emoticon

*mouldy is probably the way you'd spell it up in your parts. Or did you spell it "moldy"? Whatever...

I think Kitty is channeling Stompin' Tom Connors. emoticon

Thank you all for the kind words and good vibes. Unfortunately our mouldy mountain muffin has been binned, but we'll never forget 'im.
