Re: Hot Stove Thread

Well, they dropped two to the hated Yankees and the third (thankfully) was rained out.

Returned home to take two out of three from Tampa - FINALLY breaking Tampa's insane streak of not having lost any of the past 15 series with the Jays.

Now, the Orioles are in town for four.

Can a man dream of 3/4?

Uh-huh.

Honestly, I think the season is gone. They are ten back a quarter of the way through the season, and only three other teams in all of baseball have a worse record. They'd have to be one of the best teams in the entire league from here on out in order to climb back into the playoff race.

Still, always rooting for them no matter what.

My crystal ball will stay foggy-ish until the All Star break. Baseball is a loooooooong season. But I definitely believe this Jays team has the horses (when healthy) to run off a couple of 8-10 game winning streaks and making up some ground.

I'd love to see them do that Frank. As far as the playoffs go, though, they'd have to play somewhere in the neighbourhood of .800 ball from here to the end to be in contention come September.

Don't look now but the Jays have gone 7-3 in their last 10 and have a chance to do what no team has done to Texas in their 36-year history: sweep four from them in their own yard.

You go lads!

They done did it - swept the Rangers and are now 32-36.

The lads are beginning to resemble the Beasts of the East I was expecting to see a couple of months ago.

Whoohoo! Gotta love it when a plan comes together. If they can keep this up, and perhaps get a little help, there may be some hope yet.

10 In A Row

And one game over .500 - weeks before my hoped-for date of the All-Star break.

What a wild and crazy trip it's been - and we still have more than a half-season to go. emoticon

Call it 11

Now it's the road for seven games in two of the league's most un-Jay-friendly parks: Tampa and Boston.

It's extremely unrealistic to think this streak will continue much longer but taking 4 of the next 7 will establish my lads as contenders this year, not pretenders.

So, that's this fan's target: two out of three with Tampa and a split of four in Beantown.

Remember that 11-game winning streak?

Me neither.

(Since, they've gone 3-11.)
