Re: CFL

Are we ready?

I was in Toronto at an apartment near Yonge Street in 1983 when the Argos went into BC Place and won the Cup 18-17. Within minutes of the end of the game, we were out on Yonge street with thousands of other fans. It was nothing like the riots we hear about all the time, it was more like a huge street party the whole city was attending.

I hope it's more of the same tomorrow.

GO ARGOOOOOOOOS!

ARGOOOOOOOOOOS!

Now that we have that out of the way ... was is just me, or was the whole production just kinda lame? Announcers talking over each other in the intro to the band Marianas Trench in the half time show, for example. Burton Cummings' lounge-lizard rendition of the national anthem complete with lyric change. Even the game itself, though it had some good moments, was just sort of okay, but not great.

Oh well. The Argos won, that's what counts. emoticon

PS -- speaking of the half-time show: what genius thought a bunch of mucho-macho pickup-truck driving football fans would want to see Justin Bieber?

Re: CFL

I agree Charlie. The talking heads over-amped the historic angle and the "Bieb" was ultra-lame.

The game had some great individual moments (from what I glimpsed while cooking) but not much drama.

Still, the result sure works for Argos fans. emoticon
