Mmmm. Pi.
I don't know if this little bit of kit has made the news stateside yet, but over here the geeks are buzzing over the Raspberry Pi.
Raspberry Pi
Its a £25 full computer for hobbyists, nothing more than a board and some sockets but its (some say) as powerful as an iPhone 4 and having seen it in action, i'd be inclined to agree.
I've got one at home, but i've not had a chance to play with it as of yet. I'm thinking of some sort of Linuxy based Media Centre powered off my TV's USB and streaming my content from around the house to my TV (I do this already on my BluRay player, but thats not the point is it ).
The truth is, you can do whatever you want with it.
Its hoped it will jumpstart a new generation who can program, as the majority of us who can are now fast approaching our 40's (and a bit more for some others) and its important if we want to be able to stay a technology based country, we need young-un's who know the difference between FORTRAN and FakeTan. Thankfully, it seems that schools are taking them up (as they did with the spiritual predecessor the BBC Micro) and with some helps from heavyweights like Google, I can only help it spurs people on to actually play with their PC's / Mobiles etc and not just look at them and wonder how it works.

Re: Mmmm. Pi.
Ha fake tan I agree with you there.
I've seen one of these little things, but I'd not know what to do with it. One of the guys in my group has one and it looks, well, geeky, but what it's capable of seems pretty cool given its size.
Linux is one of my future projects. One day, maybe.
